Kitchen worktops and cutting service

Worktops are one of the hardest parts of a kitchen to fit well. The joins must be tight, the sink and hob cut-outs accurate, and the edges clean. Our worktop centre is run by a small team with a background in cabinet making, and they do the difficult cuts in our workshop rather than on your kitchen floor. That means less mess, less time on site and a better finish.

Worktop materials

Every display kitchen in our showroom has a different worktop, so you can see how each material works with different doors. We also have a large range of samples.

• Granite: natural stone, very hard-wearing, and every slab is unique. Solid all the way through, so it suits undermount sinks, islands and shaped edges
• Quartz: engineered stone with a consistent pattern, low maintenance and hard-wearing, including marble-look and veined designs
• Corian: a solid surface that can be shaped, with near-invisible joins and integrated sinks
• Marble: a natural stone for a softer, classic look
• Solid wood: oak and other timbers for warmth, often used on islands
• Laminate and textured laminate: good value, and square-edge designs can look like stone at a fraction of the cost
• Zenith compact laminate: thin, dense and hard-wearing

Our cutting service

Whether we are fitting your kitchen or you are buying worktops on their own, we offer a full cutting service:

• Cutting to size from your measurements or our survey
• Butt-and-scribe and other joints needed to join laminate worktops
• Cut-outs for sinks, hobs and other fittings
• Edge banding for laminate worktops
• Matching upstands, splashbacks and breakfast bars

On a Huyton kitchen we made the worktops and matching upstands in our workshop as an affordable alternative to tiles. On a housing development in Liverpool we cut every worktop for five kitchens before they left Kirkby, so the fitters only had to drop them in.

Granite and stone

Granite is one of our customers' favourite worktops. Each slab has its own pattern and it suits everything from ultra-modern to traditional kitchens. Recent jobs include white marble-look granite with a matching splashback in Widnes, veined granite hand-picked for a grey shaker kitchen in Aigburth, a bevelled-edge granite island in Ormskirk, and a mitred quartz island in Allerton where the worktop runs down both sides to the floor. Stone worktops are templated once the units are in, then made to the template.

Replacing worktops only

If your units are sound, new worktops are one of the quickest ways to change how a kitchen looks. We can replace worktops on their own or with new doors. See refurbishments.

Working with builders and architects

Our design team works with the workshop so orders are cut quickly and accurately, and we are happy to work directly with your architect or builder. We offer a full in-house 3D design service for worktops, as we do for complete kitchens.
